Tesla Model Y Air Mattress Review: The Official Option
Tesla's own mattress fits the Model Y exactly and comes with pump, bag and patches. It's also a 3-inch air bed you need a Tesla account to buy.

There's a version of this review that just says: it's official, it fits, buy it. Tesla earned that by getting the fundamentals right — the mattress measures 74.4 × 50.4 inches, which is the Model Y's folded sleeping area almost to the millimetre. But fit is only half of what a mattress is for.
What $225 buys
An air mattress with a 3-inch high-density foam fill inside a waterproof polyester shell, plus the full kit: pump, carry bag, two repair patches. The foam fill matters — it takes out the worst of the air-bed bounce and adds insulation a plain air chamber lacks. Against a generic camping air bed wedged diagonally into the car, it's no contest.
What it doesn't try to be
Three inches of foam-filled air is not twenty centimetres of Snuuzu foam, and it doesn't address the seat slope the way the FlatCore does. Tesla built the mattress for the occasional Camp Mode night, and for that job it's correctly specified. Owners who camp monthly tend to graduate to thicker aftermarket foam; owners who camp twice a year never need to.
The purchase gate
The strangest spec: you must sign in with a Tesla account that owns a Tesla to buy one. For our full field of nine — including the alternatives with no such requirement — see the Tesla mattress ranking, where the official pick takes eighth on comfort but a much higher rank on sheer reasonableness.

Frequently asked questions
- Why does Tesla require an account to buy the mattress?
- The shop gates some accessories to verified Tesla owners. Practically, it means you can't buy one as a gift for a Tesla-owning friend from your own account, and non-owners can't buy it at all — an odd restriction for a mattress, but that's the policy as it stands.
- Is there a smaller official option?
- In China, yes — Tesla launched a single-person version there in May 2026 (about $99, using one folded seat plus the trunk). It hasn't reached the US or European shops as of this writing.
