AWD Camper covers car camping, overlanding and the vehicles people sleep in. We publish buying guides, gear reviews, head-to-head comparisons and news — written to be useful to someone deciding what to actually buy this weekend.

How we evaluate gear

Most of what you read here is research-led rather than lab-tested. We read the manufacturer specifications, compare them against competing products, gather owner reports across long-running forum threads and retailer reviews, and weigh the trade-offs. Where a piece of gear has been used first-hand, the review says so explicitly and describes the conditions. Where it has not, we do not pretend otherwise.

Every product we recommend lists at least one drawback. If a category has no clear winner we say that too, rather than manufacturing a ranking.
