Havnby CloudCore T-Roc Review: Small Car, Real Bed

Nobody plans to camp in a T-Roc — until the festival, the ferry queue or the mountain pass decides otherwise. Havnby is the only brand that planned ahead.

Every mattress we've reviewed so far fits a car someone *chose* for camping. The T-Roc CloudCore is different: it fits the car people already have. Europe's compact crossover sells in enormous numbers to people who will, a handful of times a year, find themselves sleeping in it — the festival weekend, the missed ferry, the spontaneous coast trip. Havnby seems to be the only mattress maker who noticed.

The build

Mechanically this is the CloudCore we've covered on the Tesla and Rivian R2: self-inflating air base in 70 seconds, foam comfort layer, packs down small, works in tents and on floors between car trips. In a car this size the pack-down matters double — there's nowhere for permanent mattress bulk in a T-Roc's boot.

The honest constraints

Two of them. Price: $469 (about $422 with AWD) is dear for the segment, the familiar economics of being the only purpose-built option. And physics: the T-Roc is a compact crossover, and the CloudCore makes its floor comfortable without making it bigger — one sleeper stretches out, two share a small-tent footprint. If your camping is regular and two-person, the honest advice is that the mattress isn't the constraint; the car is.

Who buys this

The T-Roc owner whose car surprise-doubles as accommodation a few times a year — and for them, the multi-use argument seals it: this is a good self-inflating camping mattress that happens to fit their boot perfectly, useful at the campsite and in the guest room either way. Everyone else can browse the full mattress ranking with more choices and fewer compromises.

Frequently asked questions

Can you really sleep in a T-Roc?
With the rear seats folded, one adult sleeps genuinely well and two sleep the way two sleep in a small tent — fine if you like each other. The CloudCore's job is making the folded floor flat and soft; the T-Roc's dimensions are the fixed constraint no mattress changes.
